Apartment Guide

HOUSE RULES

  • Quiet hours: 9pm – 7am
  • No loud music or noise * the walls are thin and you can hear almost everything
  • No unregistered guests or pets
  • No smoking anywhere (kids in building)
  • No shoes in studio please (we provide slippers)
  • Make sure all doors are locked behind you when leaving and entering the house
  • Upper floors are off limits

ENTERING AND LEAVING THE STUDIO

  • Make sure you always lock the patio door if unattended. The wind can blow it open sometimes.
  • Your code for front door and studio keypads will be messaged to you.
  • Please close black gate to the house quietly and always shut the red door to garage.
  • Make sure you turn off all lights and the heater/fan if used.

STORAGE

  • The studio has lots of closet space. There is a small closet to the right when you enter the studio.
  • A big walk in closet is located right ahead of the entry door, where you can also store your luggage.

BATHROOM

  • There is no fan, so please open the bathroom door for a bit after you shower to air it out. Keep the door closed otherwise due to noise. Thanks!
  • There is a hair dryer and storage space in the left lower cabinets.
  • First aid kit is under sink in drawer for emergencies only.

KITCHEN

  • All appliances are pretty straight forward to use. Always feel free to text me with any questions.
  • There is a 3in1 Convection Microwave under the induction hot plates. If you decide you want to bake something, please make sure to read the manual we left right next to it in case you are not familiar how to use it.
  • Please remember to turn off the induction plates when done cooking.
  • Please recycle garbage and use the compost bin under the sink for food and compostables.
  • There is a garburator in the sink, the switch is on the wall to the right side of the sink.
  • Water: you can drink tap water, but we also provide a Brita filter in the fridge.
  • Coffee & tea: we have fresh coffee beans from Peet’s Coffee and coffee pods for the Keurig machine on the wall shelves above the appliances. Coffee grinder and French Press are in wall cabinet to the right of the sink area. A selection of tea bags are in the glass container on the kitchen counter.
  • Food: all the little goodies provided are for you to help you get started during your stay. Enjoy!
  • Cleaning supplies: there are dishwasher tabs under the sink, as well as some gloves and sponges for cleaning if needed.
  • Fire extinguisher is located between the wall and the left side of the fridge.

WINDOWS

  • All windows are sealed shut (due to ants), please do not try to open them. You can open the patio doors if you want to air out the studio but keep in mind to lock it when you are going to bed or leaving the premises. The wind can blow it open.

ANTS

  • Although we sealed the place as well as we could, ants do appear from time to time. If you should see more than one, let us know and we will provide a spray.
  • Please try not to leave any food out to attract them.

LIGHT SWITCHES & PLUGS

  • Main lights for the studio can be found to the right of the patio doors as well as above the big round chair.
  • The lights for above the table can be found to the left of the patio doors. Please do not turn off the one marked “Do not turn off”.

SAFE

  • The safe is located in the wall of the walk in closet on the right side. The code is 649.

STEAMER

  • There is a steamer provided in the walk-in closet to steam your clothes. Let us know if you need an iron, and we will leave one for you.

TV

  • The remote is a white Google TV device and will be on the coffee table.
  • To turn the TV on press the power button located in the lower left of the remote.
  • Live TV – click on the TV icon to watch live tv.
  • Streaming Apps are available for you on the tv. If you have an account for any of them you may log in to access the content. Apple TV+ is already logged in for you.

WHITE NOISE

  • Since the house is very old and the walls are thin, we apologize if you will hear any muffled sounds and noises (hopefully no crying from our daughter). The studio is generally quiet but if any noises do bother you we provide a white noise machine that will be plugged in for you in the cubby on the window cell.

HEATER/FAN

  • In case it gets cold, there is a heater located on the right side if the living room in the wall before the bathroom door. You just have to turn the knob. Please DO NOT place anything in front of it as it can catch fire. Please remember to turn it off if not needed or you leave the studio.
  • It usually never gets too hot in the studio but if you do need a fan just let us know and we will leave one for you.

WASHER & DRYER

  • There is a washer & dryer right in front of the studio entry door.
    We do use it as well, so in order to not overlap with timing we would suggest for you to use it any time from 7am – 11am. Thank you!

PATIO

  • If you want to use the patio table and would like to cover it, there is a blue table cloth in the bottom kitchen drawer.
    -Our neighbors are in the yard rarely but when they are, they like their privacy and we usually try to give them their space. We would kindly ask you to please respect their privacy as well. Thank you!
    -If you want to use the bbq please let us know and we will provide you with the proper tools.

PARKING

  • There is usually always street parking available for guests on our street, except during street cleaning hours so please read the signs. There is no parking available inside the two-family home.
